Serenity anchored in the Bay of Islands, the first of our two ports in New Zealand. We took an early tender to the Waitangi pier, then a shuttle to Paihia, and here we boarded a ferry to cross the bay to again visit the small town of Russell.

Last night’s rain was welcome here – they had had none since Christmas!

Russell was the original capital of New Zealand – oh, good – a Sunday Craft Fair in the Town Hall!

After a bit of shopping we strolled along the shore road.

Then we attended the 10:30am service at Christ Anglican Church, the oldest church in New Zealand (1836).
